Linda Peterson, Beginning Farmer/Rancher Program Coordinator for Sonoma County
Title Beginning Farmer and Rancher Program Coordinator
 Location UCCE Sonoma County
 Time with ANR 2.5 years
 Typical Day

I do outreach and planning for our USDA-funded farmer/rancher training program, using social media, contacts, meetings, and presentations. I also connect with experienced farmers and ranchers who serve as mentors for our students. I get to spend a lot of time with our local ag producers.

 Most Memorable Moment

Watching our students present their business plans to lenders, business instructors, farm business owners and their peers.

What I love Most About Working for ANR

I love having the opportunity to help farmers and ranchers have a successful farm or ranch business, so they can afford the lifestyle they love.

 My Story

I've lived in Sonoma County for 20 years and most of that time has been spent in agriculturally related positions—from working on a farm, to commercial food waste composting, to supporting farmers in finding land and capital, and now, helping train the next generation of agriculturalists.

Here's to another 100 years of science and service!
