Time with ANR
No day is the same. One day I am in the field walking a ranch and doing research in a stream. The next day I am meeting with community members to develop solutions and organize programs. Of course sometimes I have to push some paper but the variety in the ways in which I serve is welcome.
Most Memorable Moment
There is one almost every week. They are the moments when the information we provide is useful to a rancher, partner organization, or group of short course participants. It happens on a farm, over the phone, through email, and in the classroom.
What I love Most About Working for ANR
The people - those we serve and partner with, our county counterparts, and our colleagues. We work collaboratively to find solutions to the challenges facing California.
I served in Peace Corps in Niger from 1989 to 1991. There I learned first hand how access to information and the role of community development could make a difference in people's lives. When I returned and began graduate school at Davis, I was fortunate enough to work with Cooperative Extension Specialists and Professors and see the opportunity to make research and science contributions at the grass roots level.
