Centennial Staff Profiles
UCCE San Bernardino and Riverside Counties
Master Gardener Program Coordinator (Program Expansion)
Time with ANR
I am responsible for expanding the UC Master Gardener Program in the high desert and mountain regions of San Bernardino County. Typical Day: I research and contact a variety of venues for holding Master Gardener presentations, demonstrations, and workshops. I develop partnerships with entities in the county. I work with Joseph Salib, the program director, on other projects such as technical activities and trainee classes.
Most Memorable Moment
Securing workshops at Radio Free Joshua Tree (RFJT) to record and air the Master Gardener lead workshops on the radio station's website and traditional radio broadcasts. They have named the workshops "The Garden Show." The show will be recorded and aired once a month and will be based on gardening in the desert environment. The manager of the station said that they are super-excited about the The Garden Show. We are excited too!
What I love Most About Working for ANR
Working with outstanding and enthusiastic co-workers with like-minded goals to expand the UC Master Gardener program. I have secured venues in the mountains, Big Bear and Twin Peaks. Also venues in the high desert, Joshua Tree and Yucca Valley. These are exciting opportunities for the Master Gardener program.
I have been a UC Master Gardener for 10 years with the Riverside County Master Gardener program. I have volunteered in a wide range of activities. This position is very similar to what I have done in my volunteer activities, so I bring many skills to this position that I have gained throughout the years. I started working here with the guidance of Joseph Salib and Janet Hartin. One of the exciting aspects of this positions is that I am given the freedom for creativity and idea sharing.
