Centennial Staff Profiles
EFNEP Sacramento- County
Youth Nutrition Coordinator
Time with ANR
I teach nutrition classes to children 5 to 18 years old. A typical day starts with preparation of educational and visual material for the class, along with a food demonstration and fun physical activity. After the classes I have to complete reports and recruit new community-based centers and schools sites in the Sacramento area.
Most Memorable Moment
I was on my way to teach a nutrition class at Del Paso Elementary School in Sacramento. A group of children were playing, and when they saw me, they ran and gave me a hug and said, ?Hello, Miss Debbie, we are happy to see you again.? That is why I love to work with kids. They are sincere and truthful.
What I love Most About Working for ANR
This organization gave me the opportunity to grow and learn to work in the food and nutrition field. I have a passion for teaching the importance of eating healthy, focusing on balanced meals.
I started 31 years ago working one-on-one with adults. In 2002, I had the opportunity to apply for my current position working with youth. The changes give me the opportunity to work with children of different ages, which I enjoy tremendously.
